Puppets & 'Splosions Run Amuck At Twisted Pixel Booth

The folks at Twisted Pixel Games have been responsible for some of the funniest, most entertaining games to come out in the Xbox Live Arcade. From the insanity in 'Splosion Man to the hilarity in Comic Jumper the developers who are powered by comedy, beards and ukuleles know how to create some of the most original and smile-inducing titles to our television sets. At this year's PAX East they have brought with them not one, but two titles that are due to be released in 2011: the Kinect title The Gunstringer and Ms. 'Splosion Man.

This morning I had the chance to check out a demonstration of the upcoming Rockstar Games title L.A. Noire, which is due to be released this May. During their 30-minute preview the folks at Rockstar managed to prove why their detective thriller is a completely different experience from any of their other titles.

This is what I've been waiting for the most at PAX East: getting my hands on Nintendo's latest handheld system. The 3DS is due within the next couple of weeks in America, and the lines to try this baby out are ridiculously long. The last two days I managed to try out three titles on the 3DS system: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Face Raiders.

Even though I wasn't "allowed" to play Mortal Kombat as a child, I still did. The moves, the Fatalities and the all-out gore drew all of us young kids to this wonderful title that was hated by parents and congressmen alike. With a brand-new Mortal Kombat title due next month can a game whose biggest draw was its gratuitous violence still bring in new and old players alike in our current-gen gaming society? After going hands-on with it at PAX East today, the answer is a strong "absolutely"!

One of the most-talked about FPS games coming out this year is Brink, a game that combines the technical shooter aspects of Call of Duty: Black Ops, puts it into a futuristic world of revolution and adds a little parkour action a la Mirror’s Edge. From what I played at PAX East yesterday it’s appears that the folks at Bethesda and Splash Damage are on the verge of revolutionizing the entire shooting genre.

Finding those little-known titles that have the chance to make it into the hearts of gamers and critics alike is one of the many great things about going to a video game convention. Today I came across one such game: Autumn Games' Jimmie Johnson's Anything With An Engine, a racer that is bound to bring smiles and giggles on all three consoles.

King Baby Duck and ESH's Pandalicious sit down with one of the funniest folk comedy duos that sing about fighting nuns and pirates: Paul and Storm!

I've been a follower of the Duke Nukem franchise since its 2D, orange-skined days, and the news of Duke Nukem Forever finally reaching our gaming consoles sounds too good to be true. Lo and behold, Duke is here and in the CGI flesh. Has it been worth the thirteen-year wait? In two words: FUCK YES!!!

After spending 90 minutes getting our passes, finding the lanyards and scoping the press room NinJaSistah, Pandalicious and I have finally setting into the recent colonization of PAX East: the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The lines are long, the funk is red & ripe and the games are in full effect. Also there is a giant inflatable Pikachu in the air. I am in my world!!!
