Viz Media Announces Release Dates For "Radiant" & "Dr. Stone"
Two new works under the Viz Media label are set to make their debut this September, with the first volume releases of Dr. Stone and Radiant due to give the shonen manga world a shakeup it greatly needs.
Debuting on September 4, Dr. Stone is the latest work from Eyeshield 21 creator Riichiro Inagaki. An occurrence leaves humanity turned to stone, with the high school student Taiju the first to break free after many centuries go by. When he runs into his old friend Senku, he realizes that his bleak situation has gotten just a slight more better. With the power of science at their side, Taiju and Senku seek to bring humanity back to life, giving the fresh start civilization has been somewhat craving for years.
"Dr. Stone blends a compelling story, characters, and richly detailed artwork with real world scientific principles to form an intriguing new series," says editor John Bae. "We invite readers to discover Dr. Stone this September!"
Originally published in France by Ankama Comics (Wakfu, Mutafukaz), Tony Valente's Radiant will be taking North America by storm with its first volume release on September 11. In a world where evil creatures called Nemeses fall from the sky, the only ones that can protect the people are Wizards--infected ones who've survived a Nemesis's corruption. Seth, one of these survivors, vows to not just take on these Nemeses, but also destroy the nest that they reside in: the Radiant.
"Radiant delivers a rich new world and lovable characters to fans craving a fresh take on shonen action and adventure," says editor Marlene First. "We're excited to unveil the first volume of Radiant to our readers this fall and get a head start before the anime begins airing!"
