Shameless Tuesdays: Livre 85 | Collect Call
Sometimes there's beauty to be found even in the foggiest of areas. Brighton's Collect Call embraces that cloudiness with their mellow music and Thom Yorke-like vocals. The solo project of producer Joseph Thorpe, Collect Call puts the "chill" in the "chillax" in their latest EP The Golden Hour. These four tracks -- which also feature contributions from The Academy of Sun's Kianna Blue -- bring a feeling that I can only describe as a "calm hop", the kind where you jump as high as you can onto the nearest bed and sprawl out to the sounds that hit your eardrums. If these songs are a hint of what's to come from Thorpe in 2022, then he'll have no trouble dragging us all into a calming haze, which is why we are delighted to have Collect Call be our first Shameless Tuesdays of 2022!
Here's what Collect Call has to say about this week's playlist:
"This collection of songs is a mixture of old favourites that I keep returning back to and newer little gems I've found scouring the internet and dark corners of streaming. I'd like to think that my tastes are eclectic however this in my opinion is the most concise playlist I've probably ever put together. Sakamoto features several times on it, I can find myself listening to his extensive works for hours and not tire, as well as newer outputs from Riverbld, James Blake and Ultraista to name a few. The songs all feature elements of the cinematic and with lashing of electronic elements.
Mood really informs music and in turn music informs mood. I hope after you listen to this collection of songs that your mood is elevated."
