Shameless Tuesdays: Livre 30 | Watch Clark
Watch Clark knows how to get dark, and they do it with a big slab of fun! The solo project of Static Engine and SMP's Paul Furio, the Seattle-based synth pop band puts a laser pointer to the listener's brain and chuckles as they attempt to grab hold of that little red dot. Their third album Couch, which was released this past Friday and produced by Freezepop's Kasson Crooker, is snarky, sarcastic, and downright sinister. But on a dark warm night under a full moon, the melodies of "Class Actress," "The Darkest Place," and "Math Grenade" sound perfect for an evening rave. (Plus, who wouldn't get in the mood for a high-speed chase during "Get to Win"?!) To keep the party going after Couch reaches its conclusion, Watch Clark has prepped us with a killer Shameless Tuesdays playlist!
Here's what Paul Furio has to say about this week's song selections:
This is a collection of songs that I listened to repeatedly while writing and recording "Couch", our latest release. I think there's something interesting and creative about each song here, and that inspired me to try some new directions with our latest tracks. I also massively respect each of these artists, and consider a few of them good friends. While some of them are popular and well know, a lot of the underappreciated musicians on this playlist are real gems, and it's a shame that in a world of mediocrity, they're not filling up big venues on a regular basis. I think every album offering a song on this playlist should be on the "Must Own" list fo serious electronic music fans.
