VIZ Media Announces "Ao Haru Ride" Shojo License
Shojo fans seeking a new rom-com series will be in luck this October, as VIZ Media has announced the license of Io Sakisaka's Ao Haru Ride!
Set to make its English debut on October 1, Ao Haru Ride focuses on female student Futaba Yoshioka, who thinks all boys are loud and obnoxious. However, that all changes when Kou Tanaka enters her junior high class. Just as soon as she realizes she really likes him, Kou had already moved away because of family issues. But when Kou reappears in her high school, Futaba wonders if is he is still the same boy she fell in love with.
"Ao Haru Ride has been one of the most requested series by avid North American shojo manga readers," says Senior Editor Nancy Thistlethwaite. "We are very excited to give fans the opportunity to collect this beautiful and enchanting series about first- and second - love."
Manga creator Io Sakisaka made her professional debut with Sakura, Chiru. Her works also include Call My Name, Gate of Planet, and Blue. STROBE EDGE, her previous work, is also published by VIZ Media. Ao Haru Ride was adapted into an anime series in 2014, and was licensed by Sentai Filmworks under the name Blue Spring Ride.
