MANGA REVIEW | "Fly Me to the Moon" - Volume Thirty

So let me get this straight: Nasa and Tsukasa have been married for quite some time. On top of that, Fly Me to the Moon is now at its thirtieth volume. And yet, Kenjiro Hata is telling me and his readers that our cute couple has yet to see each other naked?! Jeez, and I thought Satou and Hime from Tales of Wedding Rings were slow with the marriage progression!

Of course, the naked thing isn't the main focus of this volume of Fly Me to the Moon. And yet, at the same time, it sort of is. After all, when you are married to the one you love, you naturally want to see your significant other sans pants. It’s only natural! So why has it taken 30 gosh darn volumes for Nasa and Tsukasa to reach this point?! I mean, Hata’s drawn them doing some steamy things together. So for the love of all things ecchi and horny, why only now is this finally happening?!

This whole thing starts off because Nasa is called in to help a friend deal with a hacker. Tsukasa stays up late into the night waiting for him, as she ponders her true romantic feelings for the kindhearted smarty-pants. And after he finally shows up, a hot bath is prepared for him. That’s when both Nasa and Tsukasa come up with the same idea: to bathe together. Yes, Tsukasa wears a swimsuit, but Nasa goes all in for the naked time because…it’s a freaking public bath!

That’s when it happens. Tsukasa gets an eye full of what’s between Nasa’s legs, and…it’s certainly a moment. To return the favor, Tsukasa unbuttons her pajama top, and gives Nasa a sight of her twin peaks. And after all of that, neither can calm down or fall back to sleep. (A post-chapter comic at the end of the volume shows that a bit more went down between the two of them, but they don’t go all the way.)

Fortunately, someone comes in to distract Nasa and Tsukasa from their lustful thoughts: Mrs. Arisugawa, Kaname and Aya’s mom. Well, Ms. Arisugawa, actually, thanks in part to what she wanted to talk to Tsukasa about, she’s now divorced! She can’t find a way to break the news to her daughters, so she’s come to the young wife to see what she can do. Thankfully, Tsukasa doesn’t need to take responsibility, as both Aya and Kaname overhear the two talking about it. And they take the news surprisingly well.

However, at school, Kaname reveals that there is a bit of trouble rattling about in her brain. She’s always felt that marriage was eternal, and while her dad was a cheating scumbag, Kaname held out a bit of hope that he’d change. But that wasn’t the case sadly, and now the young girl has been left wondering if there is such a thing as an eternal love. But then she remembers who lives at her public bath: a couple who could stand the tests of time.

Volume Thirty of Fly Me to the Moon took a breather from Tsukasa’s quest to cure her immortality, and it was kind of a good call. These stories showcase the strengths of both Tsukasa and Nasa, who find ways to keep on adding new life to their married life. After all, just because one marriage fails, it doesn’t mean all of them are doomed. Perhaps if more couples can be like Nasa and Tsukasa, there would be eternal happiness in the marriage realm for all. But please, loving couples, don’t take too long to see each other naked!
