The Behemoth first took on the gaming world in 2004 with Alien Hominid, where a cute-looking creature destroyed everything that moved to get their spaceship back. Now after nearly two decades, a proper sequel has finally arrived, in the form of Alien Hominid Invasion. Needless to say, the space creatures still have a grudge against Earth. And they’re also packing serious heat!

A side-scrolling multiplayer adventure, Alien Hominid Invasion has you running and gunning through the cityscape as you steal intel and destroy meatbags in black. Simplistic in controls, the challenge comes with the quantity of enemies that surround you during your missions. Be it stealing intel or simply surviving a time limit, your alien will deal with a horrifying amount of defense from Earth’s finest. Fortunately, they’re not the legit Earth Defense Force, so you’ve got a chance of success!

This is definitely a turn-your-brain-off kind of run-and-gun, albeit with enough chaos to keep you on your toes. On many occasions, I found myself dealing with armies of human scum at once. While my gun did plenty of damage (both regular and in super-charged mode), the grenades given were plentiful enough to make some real damage. But even when your mission is over, there’s still plenty of agents still trying to shoot you down while you’re being beamed back up.

I’ll be blunt: Alien Hominid Invasion is one tough sonuvagun! Playing solo, my character was being drowned by enemies at every corner of the levels. Worse, the more time you spend in a level, the more the difficulty escalates! Hence why I feel like this will be a much better experience playing with friends rather than solo, in a similar way that’s Castle Crashers was. With that being said, there’s plenty of that trademark Behemoth charm and humor in almost every frame of this sequel.

Alien Hominid Invasion is due to be released later this year on PC and consoles. Perhaps while you wait to conquer Earth, maybe watch some sci-fi films to get a good idea on what not to do if you wanna enslave the human race!
