Shameless Tuesdays: Livre 64 | Para Lia
Para Lia may be based near Berlin, but their sound is straight out of Boston's golden age of indie rock. It's clear that the influences of The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. are burnt onto Rene and Cindy Merther's fingers, as evident by their 2020 album Gone With The Flow (which just received a CD/vinyl release)! Songs like "Children Of The Flood" and "Fools" brim with classic noise rock, while at the same time delivering some beautiful orchestrations behind the fuzz & distortion. With the mixture of Rene and Cindy's vocals, the duo deliver a gorgeous amount of power that blends darkness with the light. So it feels appropriate that a band with a Boston-based influence would find their way to a Boston-based site, as Para Lia take a crack at this week's Shameless Tuesdays playlist!
Here's what Para Lia have to say about this week's playlist:
Guitar driven indie rock - far from being one dimensional - this is what this playlist is about. Served in a combination of well known acts of the scene and new songs from indie artists and friends. A great musical ride to enjoy when you are on the road. And with cranked up volume.
In the mix there are bands like the Pixies, Sonic Youth and Phillip Boa - heroes of the scene for decades and musical influences for so many bands - including Para Lia. Other fantastic artists included in the list i was getting to know during the last 2, 3 years - mainly via Soundcloud - and i fell in love with their music and their unique style.
