MANGA REVIEW | "Let’s Do It Already!" - Volume Four
Yuri and Keiichiro are, in the nicest of terms, morons. It’s that element that has helped make Let’s Do It Already! immensely entertaining. Yet despite their utter stupidity, Yuri and Keiichiro still find a way to grow and evolve as a couple. In Volume Four, readers will see just how far these two will go to earn everlasting love.
For starters, as we all saw in the third volume, Yuri is now working as a maid in Keiichiro’s household. She worked her fanny off to reach his legit home, and her first day on the job isn’t exactly what she pictured. In fact, it’s almost as if Keiichiro straight-up ignored Yuri! This frustration gets the attention of a strange old man in the garden, whom Yuri entertains with her stories of love and frustration.
However, when Yuri just can’t help herself and sneaks into Keiichiro’s room, it grabs the attention of every single security detail in the vicinity. Thankfully, Keiichiro is not only understanding of the situation; he also takes advantage of it and gets just a sliver of alone time with Yuri. As you can imagine, not only does Yuri not get in trouble, but the old man she entertains turns out to be someone very close to Keiichiro.
It’s a moment in Let’s Do It Already! that makes you think we’ve met the manga’s end boss. Quite the contrary, he’s both okay with the arrangement and rooting for the two to succeed. So why the rules? That’s still up in the air, but we do know that Keiichiro is quite the stickler when it comes to following orders, so perhaps we can give them credit for being a diligent (but still very stupid) person.
Their stupidity gives Keiichiro a major penalty: a muscular bodyguard not named Arnold watching his every move. However, with Athletic’s Day just around the corner, the chance to have lunch together and be a couple becomes all the more enticing. One other thing is on the table for the lovers: if Keiichiro can win a race, the bodyguard will step aside and let him and Yuri have a moment alone. A great plan, had it not been for the fact that he’s an absolute shit runner!
That’s when Keiichiro pulls a trick out of Sasha Baron Cohen’s movie The Dictator. His opponents get knocked out in the most hilarious of ways. But even if it’s all for love, the end result doesn’t make Yuri happy in the slightest. It’s a big lesson about how one can go too far in the name of love, even if their heart is in the right place.
But that’s not the only problematic thing to happen in Let’s Do It Already! The fourth volume ends on a major bombshell, one that can upend the lovey-dovey school life Yuri and Keiichiro are attempting to build. Will this hurdle be one the two will successfully jump over, or do the two have to say bye-bye to their relationship? Whatever the case, it’s certain that the outcome will be just as fun and stupid as this volume of Let’s Do It Already! was.
