Shameless Tuesdays: Livre 112 | Karamelien
What's on the other side when our time is up? A new world? Complete blackness? A fresh start in a new life? Karamelien (a side project from vocalist Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Forster) dives into these possibilities in their latest single "Wait For Me". The track serves as a tragic love story, where one laments on the loss of their soulmate. However, it could also go the other way around, with the spirit waiting to reunite with the person still of this world. However one interprets it, "Wait For Me" is nonetheless a breathtaking and beautiful song that comes from the heart. And today, we wait no more for Karamelien's contribution to Shameless Tuesdays.
Here's what Karamelien has to say about this week's playlist, which they have dubbed "Gods, ghosts and getaways":
Deep, dark, transcendent tunes that take you somewhere else... be it another universe, beyond life, into a dream world... Moody escapism at its best.
I've always been a big fan of moody, ethereal, spaced-out tunes that take you somewhere else. Here's a selection of my favourites. Some of these are tunes I've only discovered recently, like Howl by Ghost Patterns and Double Helix by Ronan Conroy, both absolutely beautiful shoegazy delights.
I've leaned towards songs that have some kind of spiritual element, be it ghosts, heaven, reincarnation, but some are simply ethereal in their sound. All of them transport me somewhere beyond the everyday.
This list is fairly female-heavy but I've included male artists too. Gary Numan is in there with a belter of a tune! A couple of these artists are friends of mine, but most are simply tunes I've heard and fallen in love with. Some people need a happy tune to make them happy. I love diving into melancholia. Somehow it lifts my spirits. I hope it does for you too!
