ESH Holiday Gift Guide 2015 | Eugene Mirman - "I’m Sorry (You’re Welcome)" (Comedy Album)

Comedian Eugene Mirman (Bob's Burgers, Flight of the Concords) has always had a unique take on his comic delivery, yet at the same time his mannerisms and outside-the-box mentality has cemented him as one of the best and brightest. His newest project is not just the biggest in his career, but possibly the wildest (and longest) comedy album to date: I'm Sorry (You're Welcome). Spreading through seven LPs and nine different segments Mirman delivers a once-in-a-lifetime experience that's not only a laugh-out-loud riot, but also incredibly educational in a variety of ways. (Okay, probably not.)

I Recommend It Because...

Covering 540 segments I'm Sorry (You're Welcome) is a comedic marathon. Starting off with a live set recorded at the Columbia City Theater in Seattle, WA, Mirman covers various topics such as fake secret passwords, making a Christian Mingle account, and getting in some lawful trouble with REM's Michael Stipe. It's when things get meta in this massive record when the album becomes stand-up brilliant. There's a sound effect collection performed with Mirman's magical mouth, ringtones & voicemail intros to use for your cellphone, a mediation guide, beginner's Russian lessons, erotic sounds for strange lovemaking, and over 45 minutes of the comedian crying all the way through. Seriously: it has everything you can/can't imagine being on a comedy record.

It's Perfect For...

Anyone in need of a good laugh, one that's due for some transcendental meditation, or someone who wants to learn a little bit of Russian. If you're also too manly to cry, this record has you covered.
