Ever since the popularity of Genshin Impact, almost every publisher has wanted to emulate its success. Vic Games Studios throws its hat in the ring with their own take on the open-world action fantasy RPG genre, with their concoction known as Limit Zero Breakers. While it can be seen as a HoyoVerse clone, where it shines is in its boss battles. In fact, if the demo was anything to go by, it might remind some of a certain Capcom game…

The demo started with a proper tutorial, as I learned how to attack and use my spells. How it plays is very similar to many of the other games in its genre, so jumping into it will be fairly easy to many. Once I got the gist of everything, I was given the opportunity to fight two boss battles. And it’s in these boss battles where I came face-to-face with some wild Monster Hunter-styled combat.

Just like Monster Hunter, Limit Zero Breakers will have you constantly attacking the bosses as they try to smash you down. With three characters that can be switched mid-combat, I was given many an opportunity and opening to lay waste to the monsters. However, even with some impressive strength behind me, the bosses — especially one known as Stone Drake — came hard and heavy with the attacks. In fact, in both boss fights I tried, I found all three of my heroes defeated just when I thought I was about to unleash a final blow of my own!

Despite my frustration, I did enjoy my time with Limit Zero Breakers. However, I am curious to see what sort of originality I’ll find when the time comes to explore its massive world. After all, as I mentioned at the beginning, these open-world action RPGs are coming in the barrel-full, so one hopes that they bring something to the table that helps to make it stand out. Since there’s still no release date planned for it, I certainly hope that Vic Games Studios is taking their time with crafting a magical world that will dazzle the imagination.
