Shameless Tuesdays: Livre 174 | Sword Tongue
The world may be dealing with one too many unspeakable horrors, but Sword Tongue is here to jab evil in its jugular. Their 2025 EP Bonfire In The Tempest aims to take down the oligarchy, as Jennifer Ryan Wilde coils her vocals around the enemy until their eyes pop out! "Diamond to Rust" and "We Are the Resistance" bookend the album with a riotous spirit, pulling up those who've been pushed to the bottom. Sandwiched inside are "Industry Alchemy", "The Skin You Shed", and "Murder White Noise", three tracks that take aim at the ones in control, and why they obviously shouldn't be. But now, Sword Tongue are here to start a bonfire in this week's edition of Shameless Tuesdays!
Here's what Sword Tongue has to say about this week's playlist:
Inspired and horrified by what is happening in the world, this playlist holds songs of lament, power, pain, triumph, and reflection. The variety of genres and voices reflect the collage of emotions and perspectives swirling around us which can feel at times uplifting, confusing, crushing, and encouraging. It is a chaotic playlist for the time we live in.
We included a number of familiar artists from the 90s using lesser known songs (Sinead O'Connor, Peter Gabriel) or more recent tracks they have released (Gary Numan, KMFDM). Also on the list are a number of newer bands we know and love. Snake Mother is a new all-female doom metal band. BARA HARI is a darkly ethereal solo artist. Halou is a dream pop group that has been around since the 90s - they just opened for Thievery Corporation. We saw VVOWS when they opened for Billy Howerdel (Perfect Circle). Corlyx is femme punk darkwave from the UK. These are all super inspiring artists we love to listen to. Enjoy!
