TGS 2025 | "Neverness to Everness"

Last year, Neverness to Everness took Tokyo Game Show by storm just from presentation alone. In fact, if memory serves me, there wasn’t even a demo; just a big, huge display with staff giving away free merchandise. But this year, Neverness to Everness arrived at TGS with a demo on-hand, and it went to great lengths to showcase just how open-world it is.

While I wasn’t able to experience the combat aspect of Neverness to Everness (save for a couple of accidental buttons pushed that took out a pedestrian), I did take on two other aspects of the game. The first is its narrative, with a storyline dealing with your characters playing in a rock band. I was treated to a very well-animated music video, with a quality that reminded me of last year’s anime Girls Band Cry.

However, the real fun came when I called upon a vehicle and started driving around the city. It was at this point when I saw just how massive the world of Neverness to Everness truly was. Lots of places to travel, a world filled with shops and other attractions, and even some “accidental” crashes made me see just how much detail was placed into the game. Basically, this is a lot like Saints Row or Grand Theft Auto, but with very cute anime girls.

Sadly, my time with Neverness to Everness came to a quick end. However, in the 15 minutes that I played, I was given a lot of hope for what this game wants to deliver. The worlds are beautiful, the characters look great, and the story seems to be a lot of fun. With that being said, I’m still curious to see what the combat will deliver and if it’ll bring anything unique to the open-world table.

Neverness to Everness plans to be released sometime in 2026 on PC, mobile, and consoles. If it comes out before Grand Theft Auto VI, I will laugh heartily.
