Anvil's Sports Asylum (December 14, 2009)

December 14th, 2009 by Anvil

This was a strange week in sports!

The New England Patriots finally got a win this week after losing the last two by beating the Carolina Panthers 20-10.That wasn't without people accusing Randy Moss of not trying. I think the Panthers should just take the loss, and not say that a player from another team didn't try. This week four members of the New England Patriots got sent home from a meeting for being late: Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas, Gary Guyton, and Derrick Burgess. I think this is a way of showing that there will not be anyone just showing up. The Patriots are a great team, but they haven't been playing like it. I say good for Bill.

After a great week of hockey the Boston Bruins lost Saturday night in overtime. I believe -- and I know Blueonic agrees -- that the Bruins had the game won in regulation, but a bad call on a goal cost us the game. There isn't much in baseball news, other than Jason Bay's agent has said that he doesn't want to be in Boston anymore and is looking to go to another team. In case Jason Bay does go to another team the Red Sox will turn their attention to outfielder Matt Holliday. The Boston Celtics are on a ten-game winning streak after a very convincing win over the Chicago Bulls. This is a team that is looking ready for the playoffs, and I personally can't wait.

In UFC 107 B.J. Penn beat Diego Sanchez in a good battle that was ended by the doctor due to blood loss. The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner is Alabama's running back Mark Ingram. He becomes the first player in Alabama school history to win the award.
