It appears that Nickelodeon is on the verge of competing with Disney in the license-snatching game.
It has been reported that the home to Spongebob and Timmy Turner will now be home to those heroes in a half-shell the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Nickelodeon will be producing both an animated series (due in 2012) and a motion picture (released under Paramount Pictures) that may or may not be a return to the classic live-action films of lore. (Though some would like to forget the craptacular third film.)
"We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to be able to focus on this property and creatively re-introduce it to a new generation of kids," said Nickelodeon President Cyma Zarghami.
The recent series by anime rapists 4Kids TV wrapped up production last year, and will finish airing on the CW at the end of August next year.
